Cool sites and resources
This part of the page is from show some sites you can check if you are interested in get into Japanese music, get creative and curious!
Sites you can check:
Rym: This one is pretty obivous, you can find a lot of interesting stuff here if you use the site properly lol. But if you want to get into some japanese music you can check this all time chart or use the (Artist location: Japan) filter and some genre of your interest.
Last fm: This site is more used as "record" of the amount of songs and albums you listen, but you can use it to find japanese music as well in the Japanese tag.
In other hand if you want to get more "specific", you can check the blog Japan Live , in here you can find a lot of interesting stuff by a person who was in the live scene in Japan for some quite long time, he have a lot of cool recomendations of some very interesting acts and links to different pages.
Gigs and live scene are a very important part of the Japanese music, so sites like Tokyo gig Guide are indispinsable if you want to know some good new and old bands!
If you are here i guess you are not very satisfied whit the general and "mainstream" idea of what Japanese music is, so books like Quit Your Band! Musical Notes from the Japanese Underground are maybe you are lookng for.
And if perhaps you are too lazy to read and navigate through so much information, you can simply go to some YouTube channels and search there, here are some that i personaly recommend:
PonikoStrawberry (This is my personal channel, you can find some stuff here too)
anyway you are free to check other sites and get creative, looking and discovering for your own are always the best way to find the finest things!
